About the client
Noumena is a start-up based in Miami, USA, building financial products for the fast-growing freelance economy. Its vision is an ecosystem of platforms that helps independent professionals fund, run and grow their businesses.
The challenge
Freelancers struggle to access financing because traditional banking is built around salaried employment. Noumena set out to change that, but the development of a three-platform ecosystem outpaced what its in-house engineering team could deliver. The company decided to scale its engineering department with Digital Colliers.
What we built
The project focuses on one of the three platforms of the wider ecosystem, the one that allows freelancers to acquire financing and manage their business finances:
- A mobile application covering payouts, activity, schedules and card management, which we own end to end.
- Backend services for accounts, transactions and financing flows, where we built and lead the team.
- Security and identity features appropriate for a product that moves real money.
How we worked
Eleven engineers in two teams work on the product. Digital Colliers took full responsibility for the mobile application and built and led the backend team, working in React, React Native, Node.js and Python.
The outcome
The platform gives freelancers a single place to reach their financial goals, from everyday spending to financing. The collaboration is ongoing as the wider ecosystem grows.
